The Divine Performing Arts on Tour presented the first ever performance of the Chinese New Year Spectacular to an appreciative audience at the Dodge Theatre in downtown Phoenix, Arizona, Monday night, January 14.

"When I was watching the show, I got into it very deeply. Because it is a culture you are fighting to save, they [the Divine Performing Arts] portrayed it so well." "You've got 60 years of a regime that is trying to stifle the culture." He continued, "It is a very sad situation."

Steven Berman, the mayor of Gilbert, Arizona, really enjoyed the show. "It was exciting! Good entertainment; culturally inspiring. I liked the drummers the best. More people will soon hear about this show, so I'm sure many more people will see it next year. It's a good chance to promote a very important culture of our world - the Chinese culture."

Rita Sanders, a public relations consultant, said, "I loved it. It's hard to say which I liked best; I liked it all! I was particularly moved by the drum pieces."

Mrs. Kerry from Mexico came with her husband and teenage son. "We are really interested in the Chinese culture. We were in China last year. We love all the arts in China." She moved to the US 6 months ago. Her husband really liked the Mongolian bowl dance the most.

A businessman from Chandler, Arizona, Steven Ferrell, said, "I thought the whole thing was just wonderful...."

The Divine Performing Arts dance company played the Temple Buell Theater in Denver on the weekend, and will continue to San Diego and Los Angeles later this week. Stops in Las Vegas and San Francisco will follow.
